BEHIND THE LENS

 

Roger’s lifetime career as a photographer started as a pleasant hobby while serving in the Navy.  From there he spent a year in Florida taking lessons, then the University of Southwest Louisiana for more training.  While he was still at USL, he established Roger Broussard Photography part time out of his home.  In 1977, he opened a full-time studio on Main Street in Jeanerette. 

 

Roger’s favorite part of the job is photographing children because you never know how a child will react from one minute to the next.  A big kid himself, Roger still likes to get down on the floor and play with the children, coaxing smiles and belly laughs out of his subjects and their parents.  Photographing children may be his preference, but Roger also photographs weddings, families, high school seniors and more, earning their smiles with his trademark duck voice. 

 

Roger Broussard Photography is truly a family business.  The staff consists of Roger, his wife, Mickey, and their daughter Shelly.  Nothing makes the Broussard family prouder than when they photograph the same family over multiple generations.
